Plateau Excavation
WIC Week™, or Women in Construction Week™, celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry and takes place during the first full week in March every year. It is a time to highlight all the great initiatives and work of women within the industry. Likewise, it is a time that brings attention to opportunities that are available to women in construction. This year’s theme, ‘Keys to the Future’, celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of the construction industry.
We are proud to feature and spotlight the women who are part of the Plateau team.
Adi Milhorn, Payroll Specialist / Human Resources – Florida
- How long you’ve been at Plateau? I started with DeWitt in 2005 (April will be 19 years), and 8 years with Plateau Excavation since the acquisition in 2016.
- Why did you choose this career/industry? I wanted to get out of my role with a timeshare company, and DeWitt was looking for a receptionist. I joined DeWitt as the receptionist and have done a little bit of everything since then: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and now Human Resources & Payroll.
- What do you enjoy most about your job/industry? I enjoy interacting with our employees, helping them with what they need regarding benefits, applications, and whatever else comes up regarding work.
- What is your advice for other women in the industry or wanting to get into the industry? You have to be ready to take a challenge when it comes to you! There are a lot of different types of people who work in our industry, and you have to be able to communicate with all types of people.
“I’ve been with this company for a year and Ms. Adi has always been a life line for me and many others. I can call her 100 times with 100 questions and she’s always been able to fix any issue I had.”
