Plateau Excavation
With a strong foundation built on people, quality craftsmanship, and innovation, Plateau Excavation has become a leader in tackling advanced, large-scale and complex site development projects, but it is our people that truly make the difference and have moved the company forward.
- How many years have you been at Plateau Excavation? I’ve been at Plateau for 14 1/2 years.
- What’s your job title? Safety and Health Manager
- What exactly do you do at our company? To ensure everyone follows Plateau and the general contractor’s safety requirements. To make sure everyone leaves with all their fingers and toes and goes home safely to their families.
- So far, what has been your favorite project? MCA (Project Ferris) Huntsville
- How would you describe your team or the people you work with? Our current team at Huntsville has come a long way from when we started over 1 1/2 years ago. They are all very conscious of all safety requirements and get along like one big happy family.
- What advice would you provide to someone interested in getting into this industry? Construction isn’t for everyone given the work hours and days; they have a tendency to run together. It is however an ever-changing field(daily) and therefore provides you with a different aspect on a daily basis.
- What is your favorite aspect about your job, Plateau, or the industry? I enjoy the people; without all of our operators and laborers, I wouldn’t be here. I enjoy teaching, showing, and helping them with all aspects of their job.
- What drew you to Plateau originally? I started in construction as a laborer back in 1994 and was an employee with Aiken Grading when Plateau purchased them. I came over with a lot of others from Aiken and have been given the opportunity to continue my career with Plateau.
- What is something unique about you (a fun fact) that few people are aware of? I am an adrenaline junkie, speed and more speed. I’ve been skydiving twice and enjoyed the Richard petty driving experience at Atlanta motor speedway. I actually drove the stock car it wasn’t a ride-along experience.
- Anything else to share? GO DAWGS!
I enjoy the people; without all of our operators and laborers, I wouldn’t be here. I enjoy teaching, showing, and helping them with all aspects of their job.
