Plateau Excavation

Plateau People – Greg Farr, Vice President of Equipment

With a strong foundation built on people, quality craftsmanship, and innovation, Plateau Excavation has become a leader in tackling advanced, large-scale and complex site development projects, but it is our people that truly make the difference and have moved the company forward.

  • How many years have you been at Plateau Excavation? 12 years, but this is my 28th year in this industry. Prior to Plateau, I worked for Cat and Komatsu dealers.
  • What’s your job title? Vice President of Equipment
  • What exactly do you do at the company? Everything that revolves around our equipment
  • So far, what has been your favorite project? Hyundai SK Battery in Kingston, GA, – we had over 220 machines out there at one point.
  • How would you describe your team or the people you work with? The best team in the industry!
  • What advice would you provide to someone interested in entering this industry? It’s hard work, for sure. It takes dedication. My advice would be to always go the extra mile and constantly work on professional development. Never stop learning. Network with others in the industry. Ask questions and learn as much as possible. There is always something you can learn every day.
  • If you could be any machine, what would you be?  That’s a toss-up between a D10 and a 395.
  • Anything else to share? My son and I race to go-carts together. He recently won first place for the 2024 season at the Mike Adkins Memorial Race.

It’s hard work, for sure. It takes dedication. My advice would be to always go the extra mile and constantly work on professional development. Never stop learning. Network with others in the industry. Ask questions and learn as much as possible. There is always something you can learn every day.
