Before the project gets started, we incorporate measures at our jobsites to protect the environment and natural habitats. One example is that of a Florida site development project team taking careful measures to protect the federally protected Burrowing Owl by fencing around the nesting trees during the entire project.

Our efforts to protect the community go beyond our volunteering efforts. At project sites, an example of the safety measures we take include safety barriers to protect workers, neighboring communities, vegetation and habitats. Another example is our Rolled Ankle Protection Program. With this program in place an Atlanta project crushed tons of rock to create safe walking paths for all workers.
We take measures to reduce our carbon footprint wherever we can. One example is that of a Nashville project that blasted, moved, and crushed rock all onsite. The rock was used for several scope items, alleviating the need for the rock to be hauled from a rock quarry in and out of the project site. Material recycling resulted in lower transportation costs and reduced our carbon footprint. Another example is our onsite equipment repair, which eliminates equipment hauled to be serviced outside the project area. This reduces our carbon footprint and allows equipment to be used more efficiently.
We support sustainability efforts in our projects across our business. An example is that of a most notable project that, once complete, has the potential to reduce emissions by saving 425 metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to the emission produced by driving more than 1 million miles in a gas-powered car. This project uses a new sustainable concrete injected with carbon dioxide that traps the chemical compound, resulting in a stronger final material while reducing carbon emissions.
